GIVING / CHARITY

Sant Kabir – WHEN THE WEALTH IN THE HOUSE INCREASES ,  WHEN WATER FILLS A BOAT , THROW THEM OUT WITH BOTH HANDS – that is the wise thing to do .

Charity begins at home – if you are fortunate and lack for nothing , look within your family to see if anyone needs help and then within your friends and community and then elsewhere . What use is your donation made outside your circle when your brother is in need ?

Rivers donot drink their own water ; trees donot eat their own fruit ; rain clouds do not eat the grain reared by them ; yet humans are not even willing to give a smile to others . Giving is GOOD  , even if it is only a smile !

• When should one give ?  NOW ! donot say that I will think and give tomorrow . Are you sure you will be around tomorrow  ?
• How much to give ? As much as you can .
• What to give ? how about a smile or a hello ! or whatever is with you in abundance .
• Whom to give ? Give to anyone you know who needs it before being asked and give without being judgemental and with open heart .
• How to give ? Give quitely and with grace and  humility and with a feeling of gratitude that you are blessed to be in a position to give . Give and never regret giving and donot inform the world that you have given .
